ABOUT RISK RECCE

About Risk Recce

Risk Recce helps organisations prepare visits, choose premises and keep projects running in Ukraine.

Experience behind the advice

The work draws on more than 20 years’ experience across military, corporate, humanitarian and consultancy roles.

Work in Ukraine has included site reviews, travel preparation, contingency planning and ongoing advice to organisations.

You deal directly with the consultant carrying out the work. Scope, deadlines and reporting arrangements are agreed before the assignment starts.

Examples of work in Ukraine

Risk assessments for programme activities and field visits, setting out precautions, contingency arrangements and unresolved concerns.

Office and accommodation assessments covering shelter, access, fire safety, utilities and medical support.

Visit and journey plans covering routes, stops, communications and arrangements for disruption.

Security procedures and contingency plans setting out responsibilities, escalation triggers and actions for day-to-day operations.

How I work

We first agree the question you need answered, who will use the advice and any limits on time, access or budget.

01 — Check the evidence

I review reports, visit locations and speak with relevant people as the work requires. I check important claims against other evidence.

02 — Explain what is known

I distinguish confirmed facts from reports that have not been verified, my professional judgement and what is still unknown.

03 — Explain the limits

I explain missing information, assumptions and changes that could affect the advice.

04 — Recommend realistic action

I recommend practical actions, suggest who should take them and explain when the advice needs reviewing. Your organisation makes the final decisions.

Risk Recce Evidence Standard

For formal assessments and reports, I use a written method for checking and presenting evidence. It explains where information comes from, what has been checked, my judgement, how confident I am and what is still missing. This helps you understand why a recommendation has been made.

An assessment covers the agreed questions and conditions at the time of the work. It cannot guarantee safety. Review it when threats, locations, activities or the precautions in place change significantly.

Reports may contain sensitive information about your people and operations. We agree who needs to receive them and any specific handling requirements at the start.

Discuss a requirement

Tell me what you need to do in Ukraine, the general location and your timeframe. Keep sensitive details out of your first message.
